Peel and core the apples and slice them into thick slices.
Roll out the dough into a large rectangle.
Place the apple slices on top of the dough.
Brush one end with water, then roll up the dough from the opposite side.
Slice into thick pieces.
Fry apple rolls for 3 minutes per side or until golden.
Roll the apple rolls in sugar before serving.
Notes
Before rolling out the dough, sprinkle the apple slices with cinnamon powder.
Sugar makes the fried apple rolls crunchier, but there are other ways to enjoy them. You can skip the sugar at the end and try any of the following:
Put a glaze on it. Mix together 2 cups of confectioners’ sugar, 2 tablespoons of butter, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and up to 4 teaspoons of milk to make a quick and easy glaze icing. Drizzle it over the fried apple rolls and spread it out. White chocolate should be drizzled on top. Pour caramel sauce on top and sprinkle crushed pecans on top.
For these Fried Apple Rolls, the best apples to use are ones that are firm and sour. Honeycrisp, Gala, Fuji, and Granny Smith are all good choices.
