  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 12 cookies 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 Tbsp. unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 1/4 cup unrefined granulated sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. honey
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • substitutions :
  • Use coconut sugar instead of granulated sugar for a richer flavor.
  • Swap all-purpose flour with gluten-free flour for a gluten-free option.
  • Try dark chocolate chips for a less sweet, more intense chocolate taste.

Instructions

Preheat & Prepare: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a non-stick baking mat.

Mix Wet Ingredients: In a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, or using a hand-held mixer, beat the butter, cream cheese, sugar, and honey on medium-high speed until pale and fluffy.

Add Egg & Vanilla: Add in the egg and vanilla extract, beating until well combined. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.

Incorporate Dry Ingredients: Reduce the speed to low and gradually mix in the flour, baking soda, and salt until just combined.

Fold in Chocolate Chips: Gently fold in the chocolate chips with a spatula.

Shape & Bake: Drop dough by rounded tablespoons onto the prepared baking sheet. Optionally, press a few extra chocolate chips on top for a bakery-style look.

Bake: Bake for 8-10 minutes, until the edges start to set and turn golden brown.

Cool & Enjoy: Remove from the oven and let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Enjoy warm or store for later!

Notes

  • Room Temperature Ingredients: Ensure the butter, cream cheese, and egg are at room temperature for a smooth dough consistency.
  • Chill for Thicker Cookies: If you prefer thicker cookies, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking.
  • Mixing Tip: Avoid overmixing once the flour is added to prevent dense cookies.
  • Measuring Flour: Use the spoon and level method to measure flour accurately—too much flour can make cookies dry.
  • Enhance the Flavor: A pinch of sea salt on top before baking enhances the chocolatey taste.
